Inacent Saunders is a nonprofit practitioner with more than 20 years of experience in the nonprofit sector. She specializes in management consulting for youth and community development organizations. In addition to her extensive on-the-ground experience, she also holds a Masters of Science in Nonprofit Leadership from Fordham University.
Inacent fell in love with the social service sector at an early age when she obtained her first after-school job at a youth-serving nonprofit in Brooklyn. The experience was so rewarding, that she decided to pursue a career in nonprofit work - and she did! Throughout her career, she often found herself being critical of management practices and operational procedures that she thought limited the quality of service to clients. She earned a reputation for fearlessly questioning these practices and being a proactive problem solver at her places of work. Then, in her mid-twenties, a supervisor referred her to the United Way of New York City's Nonprofit Management training program where she discovered the discipline of organizational management. From then on, Inacent understood that her ability to identify and solve organizational issues was actually a natural business acumen for organizational assessment and change management. She then made it her mission to pursue every professional development and educational opportunity she could that would build her nonprofit management toolkit. Today, she uses that toolkit to strengthen every organization, and equip every aspiring nonprofit entrepreneur that seeks her assistance.
Innocent's devotion to the third sector goes beyond her work and educational endeavors. In her personal time, she volunteers her skills as a board member of two Brooklyn based nonprofits - the Ocean-Hill Brownsville Coalition of Young Professionals and Seeds to Flowers, Inc., serving as the Board President of the latter. Additionally, she volunteers with, and is a charter member of, the Association of Nonprofit Specialists, contributing to the education team that organizes learning opportunities for nonprofit consultants and leaders.
